Techniques for burning resin incense

• Fill your charcoal burner one-quarter full with sand or small stones to absorb heat. Place the burner on a heat-resistant surface such as a ceramic plate or coaster, as the base will become very hot.
• Hold the charcoal tablet with tongs and light it until it begins to smoke. Place the hot charcoal on the sand bed inside the burner. Wait 5–15 minutes until a thin layer of ash forms on the tablet.
• Using a metal spoon, add a small amount of resin on top of the hot charcoal. The resin will release fragrant incense smoke. Add more resin as desired until the charcoal burns out.
• When finished, allow the charcoal to cool completely in the burner before discarding. If unsure, extinguish with water.

Caution: Never touch the charcoal tablet once lit or attempt to move the burner while in use. Both the charcoal and burner will be extremely hot. Do not leave charcoal or resin incense unattended. Always burn incense in a well-ventilated area.
