Black Obsidian is formed when a volcano erupts and the lava cools very quickly. Obsidian stone is also known as volcanic glass, xaga, and royal agate because of the depth of its colour.
Obsidian is extremely rich in silica and low in water, and has a chemical composition similar to rhyolite. This stone has a glassy lustre and is slightly harder than window glass.
