Keeping crystals near your window can be pretty, especially with the sun beaming down on them letting the light shine through, showing off its rainbow inclusions or flashes. But, did you know that many crystals are sensitive to the sun? And after time the natural colours will fade and the colourful hues won’t be so colourful anymore.

Here is a list of some to keep away from the direct sunlight – Fluorite, Amethyst, Citrine, Aquamarine, Opal, Ametrine, Aventurine, Apatite, Beryl, citrine, Calcite, Celestite, Chrysoprase, Kunzite, Sapphire, Rose quartz, and Smokey Quartz.

Wearing your crystals in the shower?

I always say don’t wear your gemstones in the shower! Not only will it ruin them but these could be bad for you when the crystals react with water. Especially not knowing what’s inside them.

Remember, these are all made up of atoms and molecules and may have some form of toxicity.

Crystals that should never be in water, due to Toxicity – Bumble Bee Jasper, Malachite, Scolecite, Tigers eye, Vanadinite, Stilbnite, Cinnabar, Amazonite, Fluorite, Black Tourmaline, Aquamarine, Turquoise, Pyrite, Ruby, Moonstone, Lapis Lazuli, Lepidolite, Gelena, Angelite, Torbernite, Azurite, Halite, Aragonite and Amber.

Crystals that dissolve in water – Selenite, Gypsum, Celestite, Amber, Barite, Himalayan Salt Rock and Mica.

Either way, play it safe when it comes to these minerals and always do your own research. I hope this helps with your crystal healing journey.

Keep out of reach from little fingers, especially toddlers who like to pop literally everything in their mouths.

And last but not least, please avoid any elixirs drinking bottles that hold crystals. I do not recommend those at all. Unless you have one which has a complete separate section at the bottom for your crystals to be separated from your drinking water.

Much love,
