Description

Flexicalymene Trilobite were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods,  extinct over over 270 million years.

Trilobite are common fossils from Morocco. Preserved with rusty-colored limonite crystals, these are actually the molds of the shells of Flexicalymene trilobites, and are often found in nodules, loose rocky concretions which reveal their fossil contents when broken open.

Trilobites are typically found by splitting sheets of shale and hard limestone deposits. These specimens were dug out of a mountain in Morocco.

Like many invertebrate animals living today, including crustaceans, spiders and insects, trilobites were arthropods, belonging to the phylum Arthropoda. Geologists know that they were marine animals because of the rocks in which they are found and the other types of fossils associated with them.
