Geology :
This intriguing Septarian was formed as clay balls on the ocean floor during the Cretaceous around 70 million years old. Over time, the balls cracked and were filled with minerals, including gorgeous yellow calcite and striking lines of argonite and limestone.
The name septarian is from the Latin word ‘septum’, which means seven, or ‘saeptum’, meaning a wall or an enclosure. The stone got its name because it tends to form in a pattern of seven.
