Picture Jasper is a relatively rare stone that forms in extremely ancient volcanic ash beds that date back to the Upper Cretaceous period, around 100 million years ago.
This type of formation can be found in only one location in the world, along the Muddy River in the desert of Jasper County, South Dakota.
