Perisphinctes is an extinct genus of ammonite cephalopod. They lived during the Middle to Late Jurassic epochsย 163 million years ago. and serve as an index fossil for that time period.

The name ‘ammonite’ originates from the Greek Ram-horned god called Ammon. Ammonites belong to a group of predators known as cephalopods, which includes their living relatives the octopus, squid, cuttlefish, and nautilus.

Sourced from the Tulear region of Southern Madagascar, this well-preserved piece dates back to pthe Jurassic Period.
