Black Obsidian is a powerful cleanser of psychic smog created within your aura. Its energy draws you in softly, but very deeply, which makes the presence of obsidian powerful in many ways.

It is also known as the “grief stone” as it is thought to be very helpful for those dealing with the loss of a loved one. If it is held during meditation it can unblock hidden feelings of grief allowing the healing process to start.

This black stone is excellent to assist you to release disharmony that has built up in your day to day life and during work on yourself. You should use it because it is the stone of truth. You can benefit from having more truth in your life!

Black obsidian is also considered a psychic protection stone. Its reflective properties can divert any negative psychic energy away from you, and sometimes back at the person who may be trying to hurt you, so be careful when using it. Many also believe that it works to not only cleanse the aura but also build a shield around it to protect you from all psychic attacks. While you may not need to carry black obsidian with you on a regular basis, carrying it when you feel particularly vulnerable is recommended.

Geology :

Obsidian Crystal is an igneous rock and a type of natural glass. Black Obsidian is formed when a volcano erupts and the lava cools very quickly. Obsidian stone is also known as volcanic glass, xaga, and royal agate because of the depth of its colour.

Obsidian is extremely rich in silica and low in water, and has a chemical composition similar to rhyolite. This stone has a glassy lustre and is slightly harder than window glass.

Black obsidian is interesting because it looks like it would be smooth to the touch, but the raw pieces can actually have sharp rough edges. It’s those sharp edges that are why obsidian has been found as far back as 2.5 million years ago as both tools and weapons for many different indigenous populations.
