Cleanse your surroundings

Cleansing is a powerful ritual to invite new energy into your surroundings and set good intentions for what you’re looking to call in.

Smudging ceremonies and rituals can be performed in different ways depending on spiritual significance. Part of their beauty is that there are no restrictions or set rules. However, guidelines should be established and followed for safety and to ensure success.

Before you begin, set up your alter in a quiet place. You can also use sound to clear a house with soothing sound vibrations. I’ve used a beautiful compilation of Tibetan singing bowls which I play on a regular basis in our showroom. You can find it via YouTube here! Credits to Sonic Yogi.

What tools to use?

To complete a full ritual you need specific scarce herbs for burning. I can suggest a few but your selection is entirely up to you. Everyone loves the popular White Sage and Palo Santo, but some others you might want to try are Mugwort, Rosemary, Lavender, Cedar, Sweet Grass, Juniper, Sandalwood or Natural Resins.

Burning your herbs requires a sustainable, heat resistant holder. I absolutely love using abalone shells as they hold special energies on their own. Cast iron pots and cauldrons are fantastic for ceremonies or even just a household bowl will work if you have nothing specific on hand.

Feather wands are a must have and have been used in ceremonies for centuries by Native Americans & many indigenous cultures throughout the world. The main reason for using feathers in energy Shamanic work is due to the fact that birds are revered by native people. This is because of their connection to spirit & higher source through their free traveling of the skies. Begin your Ritual by using soft, gliding or sweeping motions through the air with your feather wand and gather the smoke to cleanse the soul.

Since my prayer was to cleanse my energies and surrounding, I’ve used Cleansing and Protection Crystals. But, the choice is entirely up to you.
